FRLS SISPA
FRLS, First Respondent Life Support is a course set for SISPA which was held at Pusat Pertahanan Awam Negeri Sarawak, in Kuching. It was supposed to be a five days program, but due to the number of COVID-19 cases which was rising at that time, all the participants were asked to leave earlier than scheduled. As far as I remember, this program took place back in March last year during a short semester break, also happened to be the time when the pandemic was just started to conquer the world.

Anyhow, it was a great experience as I got to learn lots of things regarding saving and taking care of the injured during the emergent hours. I had no time to play around except during the evenings where participants were given free time to do sports. Aside from the evening, I had to stay focus because I would have to sit for a practical test to gain marks that would contribute to my commissioning in the final year. There was this one time that I enjoyed the most where we had to do a simulation of saving victims after a huge accident. We were separated into few groups to take turns to play as the victims and the rescuers. By applying what we learned from the previous classes, we had to identify what kind of pain and treatments were needed for each victim and treated them with the appliances that had been given beforehand. It was quite of an experience as it felt almost similar to the real one especially when we were given a time limit which somehow helped in stirring the sense of emergence into the act.

Before joining this course, I thought that we would be staying in the middle of the forest with unending training, but the reality was too far from that. The accommodation was too comfortable for a standard dorm in a training center because of several air-conditioning places and that almost tied us down when we were asked to leave. All in all, I felt so happy to be able to join this course though it was cut to only three days and I just knew it would be the last program I joined physically.
The memories.
