Studying with Disabilities – The University Experience.png

Never once had I ever thought of having this kind of course to complete my study, but this course becomes my favorite out of all the courses we have learned during this semester. Whenever we were given tasks on designing and stuffs to showcase our learning process, those times just had to be my comfort time because I found that doing something that does not require a lot of thinking and all casual somewhat sends butterflies in my stomach. I kept on finding myself losing the track of time whenever I started designing things, and this could mean that I finally found something that compliments me well. I used to hear this some time ago that people tend to feel much lighter when doing things they like, and I guess that is how I felt every time I did the activities and assignments from this course.

On top of that, I’m not going to lie about this, but I might start learning more about graphic designing soon from online tutors because I think being a website editor would suit me well especially since it would benefit me in my future career line soon. I believe that it would be great if I had something that I can flex in my resume or portfolio soon when applying for jobs. It is always better to have more than less, so there is nothing to lose if I were really to do this. Starting from the basic things on editing and designing, fast forward to learning on designing a website, I have no words. There is too much to unveil on how the whole process of honing our creative sides that we never knew of until we could create a whole working website.

On another note, this course somehow had me remembering those days when I was still in high school. Ever since my school days, I was always the one who would be the first to be in-charged in class decoration. Perhaps because everyone else was too lazy or I have always had creative hands, either way, that was how I used to be perceived. However, not anymore precisely now that university does not require students to decorate anything unless for events. In those days, everything was done by hand, nothing had to do with online platforms and here what I meant to say is, this course gives me a whole new experience by letting me utilized my creative hands online, together with other lessons in which it does open my eyes to a great extent. It is the most important thing that I used to ignore once in designing- the CRAP elements.

The CRAP elements, though when hearing what it stands for would make people think of it as easy, but of course, it has always been easier to say than do. Contrasts, repetition, alignment, and proximity are the said elements that consistently caught me off guard during the designing process because I always occurred to forget about them. It sure is good to loosen up a bit in the process, but I should have never overlooked such things when they should be applied. I learned that these elements helped a lot in making a design look much more attractive which would make the viewers be drawn to it. Sometimes even when people do not have an interest in certain things, but due to how pleasant it looks in the eyes, the possibility for people to buy from it (if it’s a store) is fairly high. Indeed, it is vital to keep eye on these elements when designing to be able to meet the expectation of others.

In my personal view, art is not for everyone, but living in this 21st century where the demands of having an individual to acquire multi-talents for a job is insanely increasing, has led people to take arts as part of their side talent. In the communication field especially like me, this course has certainly paved a way for me to define a better road to walk through because of how much this would cost for my future undertakings. It is interconnected to the program that I’m taking in terms of the media field, which in need of someone who could do both editing and designing particularly if I were to work in the journalism sector. Well, of course, the main motive of this course is for students to be able to apply it for a long time, but I think this could be more than that, but I’m not sure either in what way because creativity is subjective and no one would able to expect much over subjective matters.
